Mesa Arizona is the third largest city in state, after Phoenix and Tucson, and the 38th-largest city in the country. It is located in Maricopa county and is about 20 miles east of Phoenix. Population is about 460,000 people.
Mesa is in the East Valley section of the Phoenix Metropolitan Area. It is bordered by Tempe on the west, the Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community on the north, Chandler and Gilbert on the south, and Apache Junction on the east.
The attractive lifestyle offered by Mesa has made it one of the fastest growing cities in the United States. Mesa boasts a population of over 450,000 (expected to reach 567,000 by 2020). The city is was founded in 1878 and is located in Maricopa County (the 4th largest county in the Nation).
Mesa is thriving and dynamic and has all the comforts of a big city. But because it is located next to the Tonto National Forest, Mesa is close to outdoor adventures and offers residents the feel of a small community.
