in East Phoenix Valley Things to Do

Around the holidays each year the blood banks have a tough time getting enough blood donors. Not sure why — maybe people have other things on their mind, or maybe some end up with seasonal flu and can’t donate — whatever the reasons, the blood banks still need donations year round. This year the United Blood Services of Arizona is offering various incentive to keep blood donors coming in during the holidays.

Those who give blood Nov. 16-30 will receive a voucher for one complimentary ticket to a Phoenix Symphony performance. Or if a donor gives blood by November 13 they will get a free oil change and the chance to win one of three pairs of Phoenix Coyotes suite tickets plus a T-shirt autographed by team captain Shane Doan.

Talk about thinking outside the box!

There are several locations to donate blood  in Ahwatukee, Apache Junction, Chandler, Gilbert, Gold Canyon, Mesa and Tempe. To make an appointment to donate blood, call 1-877-448-4483, or visit the United Blood Service’s website.  Click on “Donate Blood,” and enter your ZIP code.
